Vegan Buchujeon is a tasty Korean dish made with a simple batter and garlic chives. The outside is crunchy and the inside is soft. Its great as a snack or starter.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups garlic chives, chopped
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
In a bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, soy sauce, sesame oil, vegetable oil, and salt
Gradually add water while stirring until a smooth batter forms
Fold in chopped garlic chives into the batter
Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat
Pour a ladleful of batter onto the skillet, spreading it out into a circle
Cook until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown
Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more oil to the skillet as needed
Serve hot with dipping sauce of your choice
