Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken about 4-5 lbs
- 1 can of beer
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Warm up your oven or grill to 375F 190C
To make a spice rub, put olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, dried oregano and thyme, and onion powder in a small bowl
Open the beer can and pour out about a quarter of it
You can drink this or throw it away
Put the beer can on a stable surface and carefully lower the chicken onto it
Make sure the chicken is sitting up straight with the beer can inside it
Make sure the chicken is evenly covered with the spice mix by rubbing it all over
Put the chicken on the grill or in the oven while it is still standing on the beer can
Cook the chicken for about an hour, or until it reaches 165F 75C on the inside and the juices run clear when a knife is stuck in it
Remove the chicken from the oven or grill with care, and let it rest for 10 minutes before cutting it up
